WELCOME TO GOLIFT

 WHO ARE WE & WHAT DO WE DO? 

 

We are a weightlifting club which was established in April 2011 and moved into our own premises in May 2012. As we are a weightlifting club we focus on the Olympic lifts of the snatch and the clean and jerk. We have members who want to compete at the sport of weightlifting, athletes from other sports such as Rugby, GAA, Rowing, Athletics, Boxing, Strongman, Hockey and Vollyball, who are looking to learn the lifts for their S&C programs, and we also have individuals who use our club to develop a strength training program for general fitness. We have a number of male and female lifters ranging from 7-75 years of age and are now the largest weightlifting club in Northern Ireland. We have current Northern Irish champions in a number of weight classes, both male and female, and some of the most experienced coaches in the country, all of whom are fully qualified. GoLift is also a registered club with British Weight Lifting (BWL), with whom our coaches have achieved their qualifications. Our facility is also used on occasion to host BWL coaching courses. Some of our coaches have been in the sport 15+ years with international lifting experience. We also have a number of coaches who also have UKSCA certification which has been of great help to the club.


WHERE ARE WE & HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? 

 

We are situated at the Valley Business Centre. Payment is per session (£5) or monthly (£30) depending on which works best for you. There are also student rates on offer which are £3 a session or £20 a month and for primary school age it is £3 a session or alternatively £15 a month. You have three sessions to try out the club and then we require membership to comply with our insurance coverage.


 WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

 

With new people to the sport we will initially spend time teaching the technique for the lifts while incorporating some conditioning work to improve strength. A dedicated coach is at each session and once relatively competent at the technique, and depending on your goals, we will give you a program to follow and you can then work in with others on the platforms where you will look to improve further on your strength while honing the technical side of the lifts. If you ever want to compete, our coaches will also prepare you for the competition and coach on you on the day.
